We may get paid when you use "Request information," found only on schools CAAHEP or ABHES accredit, to contact that school. You will find links to the school's own website in other rows. No school pays for listing or a higher spot. Sources: IPEDS 2023-24 (prices and graduates) plus the CAAHEP and ABHES directories.
Accreditation, prices and graduates: this is how to read the list.
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. Completing it lets you take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Before you rely on the CMA exam, ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- You won't find the school listed for medical assisting by either group; this does not judge the school. Another agency may still accredit the college itself. You need a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam; the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also allow other paths like work experience.
- Price
- These figures cover tuition and fees for 2023-24 plus books and supplies if the school includes them, reported by each institution as either the whole program cost or one year of full-time study (the local student rate at public colleges). Each award the school lists shares the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- These are students who completed their program between July 2023 and June 2024. The U.S. Department of Education runs an annual survey called IPEDS, which supplies these prices and graduate counts.
