No school pays for a listing or a higher spot. The CAAHEP and ABHES directories and IPEDS 2023-24 data on prices and graduates are our sources.

Accreditation, prices and graduates: how to read this list
CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, people who finish it may take the CMA exam.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES grants approval to the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered as well before you rely on the CMA exam.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
Neither group has the school listed for medical assisting, yet that fact is not a verdict on the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. For the CMA exam, you need a CAAHEP or ABHES program. Other routes, such as work experience, also qualify you for the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
Classes held online
You do the coursework online, but the clinical hours always happen in person, at a clinic or at the school.
Price
For 2023-24, each school reports its tuition and fees, with books and supplies added when it lists them. The number covers the whole program or a year of full-time study (public colleges use the rate local students pay). The yearly cost stays the same for every award type the school offers.
Graduates
These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual U.S. Department of Education survey, provides the price and graduate numbers.
