Only a school accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES shows "Request information"; your request goes to that school, and we may be paid for sending it. Rows without that button take you to the school's own website instead. No school pays to get listed or move up. Data comes from CAAHEP and ABHES directories plus IPEDS 2023-24 graduate and price figures.

How to read this list: accreditation, prices, graduates
CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. Completing the program lets a person take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES gives approval to the whole school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered by accreditation before you count on the CMA exam.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
For medical assisting, neither group lists the school; this is not a verdict on the school. Another agency can still accredit the college itself. For the CMA exam, you need a CAAHEP or ABHES program. Other routes, such as work experience, also qualify you for the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
Classes held online
You do the coursework online, but the clinical hours always happen in person, at a clinic or at the school.
Price
For 2023-24, each school reports tuition and fees, plus books and supplies when listed: for the whole program or one year of full-time classes (rate for local students at public colleges). Each award the school lists has the same yearly price.
Graduates
These figures cover students completing their studies from July 2023 through June 2024. The U.S. Department of Education runs IPEDS, a yearly survey providing these graduate and price numbers.
