Understanding accreditation, graduates and prices in this list
CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. Anyone who completes it may take the CMA exam and earn the title of Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES grants approval to the entire school. Before you rely on the CMA exam, check with the school that its medical assisting program is covered as well.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
Neither organization includes the school for medical assisting; this does not judge the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. A CAAHEP or ABHES program is required for the CMA exam, while the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams allow other paths like work experience.
Price
Each school reports its own tuition and fees for 2023-24, plus books and supplies when a school lists them. The figure covers the whole program or a year of full-time study. At public colleges, it's the local-student rate. Each award type at a school shares the same yearly cost.
Graduates
These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provides the graduate and price data.
