"Request information" shows up only where CAAHEP or ABHES accredits the school; it sends your request there, and we may get paid. The other rows go straight to the school website. No school pays us to appear here or to move up the list. We used IPEDS 2023-24 for prices and graduates, plus directories from CAAHEP and ABHES.

Accreditation, graduate counts and prices: here is how to read the list.
CAAHEP-accredited program
CAAHEP reviewed and approved the actual medical assisting program. Those who complete it may take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is included before you rely on taking the CMA exam.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
Medical assisting is not listed for the school by either group; this does not judge the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. You need a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam, while the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also allow other paths like work experience.
Classes held online
While coursework is online, you must complete clinical hours in person at the school or a clinic.
Price
Schools report 2023-24 tuition, fees, and books plus supplies if listed: costs cover the whole program or one year of full-time classes for local public college students. The yearly rate stays the same for every award the school offers.
Graduates
These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provides the price and graduate data.
