How to read this list: accreditation, prices and graduates
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- CAAHEP has checked and approved the medical assisting program itself. People who finish it can take the CMA exam to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES approves the whole school. Before you count on the CMA exam, ask the school whether its medical assisting program is covered too.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- Neither group lists the school for medical assisting; that is not a verdict on the school. The college itself can still be accredited by another agency. The CMA exam needs a CAAHEP or ABHES program; the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also accept other routes, such as work experience.
- Price
- Tuition and fees for 2023-24, with books and supplies when the school lists them, as each school reports them: for the whole program, or for one year of full-time classes (the rate for local students at public colleges). A yearly price is the same for each award the school lists.
- Graduates
- Students who finished between July 2023 and June 2024. Prices and graduates come from IPEDS, a yearly survey by the U.S. Department of Education.
