The "Request information" button appears only on schools accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES. Your request goes to that school, and we may be paid for it. A link to the school's own site appears in every other row. Policy note: No school pays for placement or to move higher in the list. For prices and graduates, we used IPEDS 2023-24. We also used the CAAHEP and ABHES lists.
How to understand accreditation, prices and graduates in this list
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. After they finish, people can take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- The whole school is approved by ABHES. Before you count on the CMA exam, check with the school to see whether that program is covered too.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- For medical assisting, neither group includes the school on its list. That isn't a judgment of the school. Another agency can still accredit the college itself. For the CMA exam, the program must have CAAHEP or ABHES approval. Exams for RMA, CCMA and NCMA accept other routes too, such as work experience.
- Price
- For 2023-24, each school reports tuition and fees, plus books and supplies when they list them. The figures cover the whole program, or one year of full-time classes. For public colleges, that yearly rate is the one for local students. Each award listed by the school has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- This covers students who finished from July 2023 through June 2024. The U.S. Department of Education's yearly survey, IPEDS, provides price and graduate data.
