How to understand accreditation, prices and graduates in this list
CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. After you finish the program, you can take the CMA exam, which lets you become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES approves the entire school. Before you rely on the CMA exam, check with the school to see if its medical assisting program is covered as well.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
Neither group includes the school for medical assisting, and that isn't a judgment about the school. Even so, the college itself may have accreditation from another agency. To take the CMA exam, you need a program that CAAHEP or ABHES approves. Exams for RMA, CCMA and NCMA also accept other routes, including work experience.
Price
For 2023-24, each school reports tuition and fees, including books and supplies when it lists them. The price covers either the whole program or one year of full-time classes. For public colleges, the yearly rate is for local students. Every award the school lists has the same yearly price.
Graduates
This covers students who finished from July 2023 through June 2024. IPEDS, the U.S. Department of Education's yearly survey, provides the price and graduate figures.
