Understanding this list: graduates, prices and accreditation
CAAHEP-accredited program
CAAHEP has checked and given approval to the medical assisting program itself. Completing it lets you take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES grants approval to the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you count on the CMA exam.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
The school does not appear on either list for medical assisting, yet this is no judgment on the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. The CMA exam requires a CAAHEP or ABHES program, but the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also allow other paths such as work experience.
Price
Each school reports its own 2023-24 tuition and fees, plus books and supplies when it lists them. A price covers the whole program, or a year of full-time study (at public colleges, the rate local students pay). Each award the school lists shares the same yearly price.
Graduates
These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. Cost and graduate numbers come from IPEDS, an annual survey that the U.S. Department of Education runs.
