You'll see "Request information" only where CAAHEP or ABHES accredits the school; it sends your request there, and we may get paid. The other rows take you to the school website. No school pays us to appear here or to move higher in the list. We used CAAHEP and ABHES directories along with IPEDS 2023-24 data on prices and graduates.

Understanding this list: graduates, costs and accreditation status
CAAHEP-accredited program
CAAHEP has reviewed and given approval to the medical assisting program itself. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, you may take the CMA exam after finishing the program.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Before relying on the CMA exam, ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered as well.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
Neither group includes the school for medical assisting, but that does not judge the school itself. The college itself can still hold accreditation from another agency. You need a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam, while the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also allow other paths like work experience.
Price
Reported by each school for 2023-24, these costs cover tuition and fees plus books and supplies if noted: either for the whole program or one year of full-time study (local student rate at public colleges). Each award the school lists shares the same yearly price.
Graduates
These are students who completed their program between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provides the prices and graduate counts.
