Understanding this list: graduates, prices and accreditation
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. If you finish it, you can take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Before relying on the CMA exam, check with the school to see if its medical assisting program is covered as well.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- Neither group includes the school for medical assisting, yet this is not a judgment on the school itself. Another agency can still accredit the college itself. A CAAHEP or ABHES program is what the CMA exam requires. Other routes, such as work experience, count too for the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
- Price
- Schools report their own 2023-24 tuition and fees, adding books and supplies where listed. The price covers the whole program, or one full-time year (the local-student rate at public colleges). For every award the school lists, the yearly price stays the same.
- Graduates
- These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provided the price and graduate data.
