- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. Anyone who completes the program is eligible for the CMA exam, which leads to the Certified Medical Assistant title.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Before relying on the CMA exam, ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- The school is not listed by either group for medical assisting; this is not a verdict on the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. A CAAHEP or ABHES program is required for the CMA exam; the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also allow other paths like work experience.
- Price
- For 2023-24, this is what each school says it charges: tuition and fees, plus books and supplies if the school lists them. The figure covers the whole program, or one year of full-time study at the local-student rate public colleges use. Each award the school lists has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. The U.S. Department of Education runs IPEDS, a yearly survey that supplies these prices and graduate numbers.
