No school pays to get listed or moved up. We used IPEDS 2023-24 for costs and graduates, plus directories from CAAHEP and ABHES.
A guide to the list's accreditation, pricing and graduate data
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. Those who complete it may take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES approves the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you count on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- Neither group includes the school for medical assisting, yet this does not judge the school. A different agency could still accredit the college itself. You need a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam; other routes like work experience also work for RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
- Price
- Schools report tuition and fees for 2023-24, including books and supplies if listed: either for the whole program or one year of full-time classes (the local student rate at public colleges). Each award the school lists has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. Each year the U.S. Department of Education runs the IPEDS survey that provides price and graduate data.
