Only schools accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES show "Request information," which forwards your inquiry to them; we may earn a fee. The other rows take you to the official website for each school. No school pays us to appear here or to move higher in the list. We pulled prices and graduate counts from IPEDS 2023-24, plus the CAAHEP and ABHES directories.
Understanding this list: look at accreditation, costs and graduate counts
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- CAAHEP has reviewed and given approval to the medical assisting program itself. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, graduates can take the CMA exam.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you count on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- The school is not listed by either group for medical assisting; this is not a judgment on the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. You must complete a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam, but the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams allow other routes like work experience.
- Price
- Schools report tuition and fees for 2023-24, plus books and supplies if listed: costs cover the whole program or one year of full-time classes (the local student rate at public colleges). For every award the school lists, the yearly price stays the same.
- Graduates
- These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provides the price and graduate data.
