A program is accredited if CAAHEP or ABHES accredits it.

Schools for medical assistants in the Omaha area

Only schools accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES display "Request information", which sends your request to the school; we may be paid for it. Every other entry sends you to a website the school runs. No school pays to get listed or to move higher in the list. The sources are IPEDS 2023-24 for prices and graduates, plus the CAAHEP and ABHES directories.

How to understand the accreditation, prices and graduate counts in this list
CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. After you finish the program, you can take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
The whole school receives approval from ABHES. Before you rely on the CMA exam, check with the school about whether its medical assisting program is covered as well.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
For medical assisting, neither group lists the school, and that isn't a verdict about it. Another agency may still accredit the college itself. The CMA exam requires a CAAHEP or ABHES program; other paths, such as work experience, are also accepted by the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
Price
For 2023-24, each school reports its tuition and fees, plus books and supplies when it lists them. The figure covers either the whole program or one year of full-time classes (using the rate public colleges give local students). The yearly price doesn't change for any award the school lists.
Graduates
Graduates here finished their programs from July 2023 through June 2024. The prices and graduate numbers come from IPEDS, a survey the U.S. Department of Education holds each year.

Omaha area in brief

Every medical assistant certificate and degree awarded by 2 schools in the Omaha area during the 2023-24 school year is included in the count. Metropolitan Community College Area in Omaha was the largest, with 28 graduates. Here the area means the city and nearby towns as the Census Bureau defines them for Omaha, NE-IA. Because that area crosses a state line, some of the schools are in the other state.
