How to read this list: what accreditation, prices and graduates mean
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. Graduates can take the CMA exam after finishing the program to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives its approval to the whole school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too, before you plan around the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- The school isn't listed for medical assisting by either group, and that isn't a verdict on the school. Another agency may still accredit the college. A CAAHEP or ABHES program is required for the CMA exam, while exams for RMA, CCMA and NCMA accept other routes, including work experience.
- Price
- For 2023-24, each school reports its tuition and fees. Those figures include books and supplies if the school lists them. The price applies to the whole program or to one year of full-time classes, using the local student rate at public colleges. Each award listed by the school has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- It covers students who completed their programs from July 2023 to June 2024. The IPEDS data on prices and graduates comes from the U.S. Department of Education's yearly survey.
