Reading this list: graduates, prices and accreditation
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. To gain Certified Medical Assistant status, graduates can take the CMA exam.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES grants approval to the entire school. Check with the school that its medical assisting program counts too before you plan on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- The school is not listed by either group for medical assisting; that is not a judgment on the school. Accreditation by another agency for the college itself is still possible. You need a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam, while the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams allow other paths like work experience.
- Price
- These are 2023-24 tuition and fees plus books and supplies if listed, reported as either the whole program cost or one year of full-time study for local public college students. Each award the school lists has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- This count includes students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provides these price and graduate numbers.
