Reading the list: graduates, prices and accreditation
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- CAAHEP has reviewed and given approval to the specific medical assisting program. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, those who finish may take the CMA exam.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you depend on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- Neither group includes the school for medical assisting, and that doesn't judge the school itself. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. The RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also take other paths such as work experience, yet the CMA exam requires a CAAHEP or ABHES program.
- Price
- Each school reports tuition and fees for 2023-24, plus books and supplies if listed: either for the whole program or one year of full-time classes (local student rate at public colleges). The yearly price stays the same for every award the school lists.
- Graduates
- Between July 2023 and June 2024, these students completed their programs. The U.S. Department of Education runs IPEDS, a yearly survey that supplies the graduate counts and prices.
