"Request information" shows up only on schools CAAHEP or ABHES accredits; it sends your request to that school, and we may be paid. The remaining rows send you to each school's site. No school pays to get listed or move up. Data comes from IPEDS 2023-24 (prices and graduates) plus directories from CAAHEP and ABHES.

This list uses accreditation, prices and graduate data; here is how to read it.
CAAHEP-accredited program
The specific medical assisting program has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. If you finish it, you can take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES gives approval to the whole school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you rely on taking the CMA exam.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
The school is not listed by either group for medical assisting; this does not judge the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. A CAAHEP or ABHES program is needed for the CMA exam, but the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also allow other paths like work experience.
Price
The price shown is 2023-24 tuition and fees, plus books and supplies when a school lists them, as each school reports. It covers the whole program, or one year of full-time classes (the local-student rate at public colleges). Each award the school lists shares the same yearly price.
Graduates
This count includes students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, a yearly survey from the U.S. Department of Education, gives the prices and graduate counts.
