Guide to the list: accreditation status, prices and graduates
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, graduates can take the CMA exam.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered as well before you rely on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- You will not find the school listed for medical assisting by either group, but this does not judge the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. A CAAHEP or ABHES program is required for the CMA exam. The RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams allow other paths too, like work experience.
- Price
- Schools report tuition and fees for 2023-24, including books and supplies if listed: costs cover the whole program or one year of full-time classes (the local student rate at public colleges). Every award the school lists shares the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- These students finished between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, a yearly survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provides the prices and graduate counts.
