"Request information" shows up only for schools CAAHEP or ABHES accredits; it sends your request there, and we may get paid. Other rows go to the school website. No school pays to get listed or ranked higher. We used IPEDS 2023-24 (prices and graduates) along with directories from CAAHEP and ABHES.
Learn what accreditation, prices and graduates mean in this list.
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- CAAHEP has approved the medical assisting program itself after checking it. You can take the CMA exam after finishing to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES approves the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you count on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- This does not judge the school; neither group has listed it for medical assisting. A different agency could still accredit the college itself. You need a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam; the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also take other paths, like work experience.
- Price
- Each school reports tuition and fees for 2023-24, including books and supplies if listed: either for the whole program or one year of full-time classes (local student rate at public colleges). Each award listed by the school has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- These students finished between July 2023 and June 2024. The U.S. Department of Education runs a yearly survey named IPEDS that supplies prices and graduates.
