CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. After finishing, you can take the CMA exam and become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES approves the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered by accreditation before you count on the CMA exam.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
The school is not listed by either group for medical assisting, but that is not a judgment on it. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. While RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams allow other paths such as work experience, you must have a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam.
Price
For 2023-24, tuition and fees are shown with books and supplies when noted: each school reports either the whole program cost or one year of full-time classes (local rate for public colleges). Each award a school lists shares the same yearly price.
Graduates
These numbers reflect students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey run by the U.S. Department of Education, provides the price and graduate data.
