How to understand accreditation, prices and graduates in this list: a guide
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. You can take the CMA exam after finishing it to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES approves the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you rely on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- A missing medical assisting listing from both groups isn't a judgment of the school. Another agency may still accredit the college. To take the CMA exam, you need a CAAHEP or ABHES program. Other routes, including work experience, work for the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
- Price
- For 2023-24, each school reports tuition and fees, including books and supplies if it lists those costs. The figures cover the whole program, or one year of full-time classes (the local student rate at public colleges). Each award the school lists has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- Students who completed their programs between July 2023 and June 2024. Price and graduate figures come from the yearly IPEDS survey run by the U.S. Department of Education.
