Only schools CAAHEP or ABHES accredits show "Request information"; clicking it sends your request to the school, and we may get paid. The other rows go to each school's own website instead. No school pays for a listing or to move up. We use IPEDS 2023-24 for graduates and prices, plus directories from CAAHEP and ABHES.

Understanding this list: graduates, prices and accreditation
CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. You can take the CMA exam after finishing to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Before you plan on the CMA exam, check with the school whether that approval covers its medical assisting program as well.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
This school appears on neither group's medical assisting list; that absence is not a verdict on the school itself. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. For the CMA exam, you need a CAAHEP or ABHES program. Other routes, such as work experience, also qualify you for the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
Classes taken online
You do coursework online, yet clinical hours are always completed in person at the school or a clinic.
Price
Each school reports its 2023-24 tuition and fees, adding books and supplies when it lists them, either for the whole program or for a single year of full-time classes (at public colleges, the rate local students pay). Each award listed by the school has the same yearly price.
Graduates
These are students finishing between July 2023 and June 2024. Cost and graduate numbers come from IPEDS, an annual survey that the U.S. Department of Education runs.
