A guide to the list: graduates, prices and accreditation
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself has been checked and approved by CAAHEP. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, people who finish can take the CMA exam.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES approves the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you count on the CMA exam.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- The school is not listed for medical assisting by either group; this does not judge the school. Another agency might still accredit the college itself. A CAAHEP or ABHES program is required for the CMA exam; the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also allow other paths like work experience.
- Price
- Each school reports its own 2023-24 tuition and fees, plus books and supplies if listed: the cost covers the whole program or one year of full-time classes (what local students pay at public colleges). Each award the school lists has the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- This counts students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. IPEDS, an annual survey from the U.S. Department of Education, provides the price and graduate data.
