How to understand accreditation, prices and graduates in this list
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- CAAHEP has reviewed and approved the medical assisting program itself. You can become a Certified Medical Assistant by taking the CMA exam after you finish.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES gives its approval to the school as a whole. Before relying on the CMA exam, ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered as well.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- Neither group includes the school on its medical assisting list, which doesn't judge the school itself. Another agency may still accredit the college. For the CMA exam, you need a program approved by CAAHEP or ABHES. Other routes, including work experience, also work for RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams.
- Price
- For 2023-24, schools report tuition and fees with books and supplies when they list them. Costs cover the whole program or a single year of full-time classes, using the local student rate at public colleges. For each award a school lists, the yearly price stays the same.
- Graduates
- This covers students who finished from July 2023 through June 2024. The U.S. Department of Education's yearly IPEDS survey provides prices and graduate figures.
