Accreditation, prices and graduates: how to read this list.
- CAAHEP-accredited program
- The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, program graduates can take the CMA exam.
- ABHES-accredited school
- ABHES approves the entire school. Before relying on the CMA exam, ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too.
- Not CAAHEP or ABHES
- The school is not listed by either group for medical assisting; this is not a verdict on the school. A different agency might still accredit the college itself. You need a CAAHEP or ABHES program for the CMA exam; the RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams also take other paths like work experience.
- Price
- Each school reports its 2023-24 tuition and fees, including books and supplies if listed, as a whole program cost or one year of full-time classes (the local student rate at public colleges). Each award the school lists shares the same yearly price.
- Graduates
- These are students who completed their studies between July 2023 and June 2024. Price and graduate data come from IPEDS, a yearly U.S. Department of Education survey.
