Accreditation, prices and graduates: how to read this list
CAAHEP-accredited program
The medical assisting program itself was checked and approved by CAAHEP. To become a Certified Medical Assistant, graduates can take the CMA exam.
ABHES-accredited school
ABHES gives approval to the entire school. Ask the school if its medical assisting program is covered too before you count on the CMA exam.
Not CAAHEP or ABHES
Neither group includes the school for medical assisting, but that fact is not a judgment on the school. Another agency might still accredit the college. To sit for the CMA exam, your program must be CAAHEP or ABHES accredited. The RMA, CCMA and NCMA exams have other paths too, like work experience.
Price
Each school reports its 2023-24 tuition and fees, with books and supplies if it lists them. A price is either for the whole program or for a year of full-time classes, and public colleges use the rate for local students. Each award the school lists has the same yearly price.
Graduates
Completion dates for these students range from July 2023 through June 2024. The U.S. Department of Education runs IPEDS, a yearly survey providing these prices and graduate counts.
